Carmen is a curious, passionate and energetic twenty-something, who just so happens to be mixed-race and francophone.

Her family’s history reaches across oceans, and includes dots and dashes across continents. She has had the privilege of living across Canada, in six provinces and one territory, and now calls Vancouver, B.C. home. Carmen is a settler on the ancestral and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.

She has a B.A. (Hons.) in History and International Relations with a focus on intersectional feminism and Indigenous sovereignty, and will be pursuing her M.A. in Fall 2021. She currently works in the field of Indigenous reconciliation, and is committed to learning (and unlearning) the histories of the peoples, places and institutions that surround her.

When Carmen isn’t working, reading, or learning, you can find her watching British detective mysteries, trying out a new vegetarian recipe, or daydreaming about her next steps. She’s always believed in the need to challenge inequity, even if it means having difficult conversations.

Meet Jason Mitchum!
Co-Host for Season 2

Jason Mitchum was born in a cross-fire hurricane. While he enjoyed a freshly dunked cookie, shredded wheat biscuits were never his cup of tea. At the tender age of 10, his precious innocence was sacrificed upon the alter of the movie “Evil Speak”. To this day he wonders what were the pigs for? He fell in with the wrong crowd, joining the Cavity Creeps in his teenage years. Luckily his pet thanksgiving turkey, George, set him straight. He had many dreams of soaring among the clouds, but the pickle gods always denied him. One day he will return to his people. Until that day, he remains adrift in a sea of dreams. May the force be with you all.
